Character Education and Improving School Climate | Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation

The Cape Henlopen School District is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students to learn. Character education and anti-bullying initiatives have been highlighted frequently in the news to encourage efforts to stymie student to student aggression. One method for improving school climate over the last few years has been through anti-bullying programs for youth and their communities to build connection and empathy.

CHEF has funded anti-bullying programs at the high school and middle school levels over the past four years. These programs are expensive and are needed across the spectrum of students. Hundreds of students have participated, seeding the schools each year with students who have learned empathy, tolerance, methods of problem resolution, and respect for others they may have perceived as different.

CHEF would like to be able to provide a consistent funding source for character education programs to support the schools, and when possible, to expand the programs as needed.
